Aquila Formula 1000 crosses the border – next stop Ring Djursland in Denmark

After five intense races in Sweden, Aquila Formula 1000, the Nordic region’s premier entry-level series in formula car racing, is taking the step outside the country’s borders. On August 15–17, the Danish Ring Djursland awaits, when the penultimate race of the year will be decided.

In the championship standings, Andreas Skatteboe has taken over the overall lead after a dominant weekend at Kinnekulle Ring, where he won all three heats. Skatteboe now has 511 points, ahead of Linus Stjernelund on 474 and Oscar Mellstig on 409. Skatteboe, who secured the title in the Senior Championship last time out at Kinnekulle Ring, can now focus entirely on the overall championship.

Among the juniors, Stjernelund tops the JRM table, but Mellstig impressed greatly last time out and was the weekend’s top points scorer in the class, which means he is now second ahead of Leonel Skaar. In the Rookie Championship, Stjernelund also leads there, ahead of Albin Gustafsson and Gustav Berglund.

For Stjernelund, the competition in Denmark means both a chance to defend his double championship lead, and to get revenge after a challenging weekend at Kinnekulle.

“After a tough weekend in Kinnekulle where I managed to work through problems with speed and end the weekend with good speed, I am looking forward to a new course. I am looking forward to such a unique course and I believe that there is every possibility of success. With limited training before the competition, I am looking forward to the challenge. I aim to learn from my mistakes from Kinnekulle and continue to develop,” says Stjernelund.

Oscar Mellstig has found a strong form curve and is still in the fight for championship medals in both the overall and junior championships. Leonel Skaar is third in the JRM, while Albin Gustafsson is chasing top results and is second in the Rookie table. Gustav Berglund, third in the Rookie Championship, also showed high speed at the beginning of the season and can challenge on the Danish course.

The weekend’s program for Aquila Formula 1000 begins on Saturday with practice at 08:00, qualifying at 09:55 and the first heat at 11:30. Sunday offers two heats, at 09:00 and 10:15. Follow the race via live stream on Youtube.
