The Aquila Formula 1000 Championship

Scandinavia’s premier introductory formula racing series, Aquila Formula 1000 has been developed as the best and most effective development platform for talented new and young drivers. For competitive racing drivers, isolated test weekends are helpful, but nothing can compare to competing in a proper race weekend, and fighting for a proper championship.

Utilising a complete race weekend format, and offering a prestigious championship where an official junior national title is up for grabs, Aquila Formula 1000 offers an ideal environment for all aspects of driver development. Each round contains free practice, qualifying, and 3 full length races at each round of the championship. Aquila Formula 1000 is one of the only introductory single seater championships of its kind in Europe, providing one of the best development platforms anywhere for drivers aspiring to climb into higher single-seater or GT/touring categories.

The focus of Aquila Formula 1000 is on pure driver development. This means it is a one-make class that focuses one thing – the driving. The car is designed to be ultra-low maintenance, keeping running costs to a bare minimum, and the regulations ensure that the racing material is as close to identical as it is possible to be. Everything has been designed with one thing in focus – tight racing to enable maximum driver development. From the aerodynamics – maximising the effect of the slipstream, to the powertrain and tyres – minimising repair and maintenance costs, there is no more cost effective and accessible entry into single seater formula racing.

In addition to this, a unique collaboration between Aquila Formula 1000 and the Swedish Autosport Federation (SBF) allow for young and talented international drivers to receive dispensation to compete in the series from 13 years of age, provided they fulfil two criteria:

  • Hold a minimum of an FIA IT-G International Karting License
  • Successfully complete the Aquila Driver Academy International Program

This program provides a unique opportunity for young international talents to prepare and develop their formula racing skills earlier for the best possible graduation into F4.
