Aquila Formula 1000 begins season-ending sprint at Kinnekulle Ring

After an intense spring season, it is time for Aquila Formula 1000, the Nordic region’s premier entry-level series in formula car racing, to take on the fifth round of this year’s championship and thereby begin the final sprint of this year’s season. This weekend, the classic Kinnekulle Ring awaits with three races on the schedule during SSK Raceweek 25–27 July.

Most recently at Knutstorp, it was the juniors Leonel Skaar and Oscar Mellstig who entered the win column for the first time in their careers, while Linus Stjernelund continued to deliver strong results. With a new victory in Skåne, the Östergötland native Stjernelund now tops the tables in both the Junior RM, the Rookie Championship and the overall standings – but only by a one-point margin to Andreas Skatteboe, who in turn still has a grip on the senior championship ahead of Kalle Svensson and Johan Varland.

Albin Gustavsson, Fredrik Lindholm and Oscar Mellstig are in an intense battle for the final medal spot in the Junior RM – where only 13 points separate Mellstig in third place down to Gustavsson in fifth.
The same applies to the Rookie table, where Enzo Cohlin has had a strong development curve and is third with five points down to Gustav Berglund, who was forced to sit out Knutstorp due to a hand injury.

A total of 20 drivers are registered for the event, which is run together with the SSK series during Raceweek 2025. Saturday’s qualifying and Race 1 are followed by two new races on Sunday – and all of them are broadcast live on YouTube.
