Vårracet på Mantorp Park

After a thrilling premiere at Mantorp Park, The Nordic Aquila Formula 1000 Championship rolls on to Round 2 this weekend.

It is the MidSweden Race Weekend and 3 new races await when the Nordic region’s premier entry-level formula racing series visits the Mittsverigebanan in Härnösand, Sweden.

The Nordic Aquila Formula 1000 Championship, an official Swedish Junior National Championship, brings together both experienced drivers and newcomers in one of the most even and exciting classes in Swedish racing.

After three intense races in the premiere, Andreas Skatteboe tops the overall championship, followed by Linus Stjernelund and Leonél Skaar.

The Mittsverigebanan is a track I had difficulty with the last time we competed there in 2023, but I feel much better prepared now. The car feels really good and after the triple victory at Mantorp, I am pumped up. The goal is clearly to extend my lead in the championship, says Andreas Skatteboe.

In the Junior Championship, rookie driver Linus Stjernelund is leading after being on the podium in every race during the opening weekend. With a background from the electric car series NXT Gen Cup, and extensive sim-racing experience, Stjernelund has quickly adapted to formula cars, and tops both the Junior and Rookie standings ahead of the 2nd Round.

Behind him are Leonél Skaar, Oscar Mellstig, Albin Gustafsson, and Gustav Berglund, all of whom showed good speed at Mantorp Park. In the senior class, Kalle Svensson and Celina Hessman are closest behind Skatteboe.

It is clear that this year’s starting field is really strong. We have seen incredibly good racing right from the start, and it will be really fun to see how the drivers handle the character of the Mittsverigebanan. We have many candidates in all championships, and I think we will see many names fighting at the top this weekend, says Johan Varland, the Championship’s Promoter.

The weekend begins with unofficial free practice sessions on Friday, before the competition weekend starts on Saturday with training, qualifying and racing.
