Skatteboe and Stjernelund champions in Aquila Formula 1000 after final weekend in Falkenberg
The season finale in Aquila Formula 1000 was run during an intense final Saturday at Falkenbergs Motorbana together with the SSK series. After three tough races, Andreas Skatteboe was able to secure the title in the overall championship, while Linus Stjernelund became the junior and rookie champion after an almost perfect final weekend.
Linus Stjernelund already showed his mettle in qualifying. With a margin of 0.5 seconds to second place Albin Gustafsson, Stjernelund secured pole position. With two victories at Falkenbergs Motorbana, the Östergötland rookie was able to secure championship gold in the Swedish Motorsports Association’s Junior RM, in addition to the rookie title he already won in the previous competition.
“What a season! It has been like a roller coaster ride but I couldn’t imagine a better ending. From the first practice I showed that I had the speed and then to take pole by 0.5 seconds was really nice. Three good races with few mistakes and a weekend where I think I showed that I was worthy of the title,” says Linus.
Before the final, the fight for the overall victory was between the already clear senior champion Andreas Skatteboe and Linus Stjernelund. Skatteboe started the day with a 6th and 5th place, but in Race 3 he had a tough fight with Stjernelund for the victory – a fight where Andreas would finish second with a margin of just 17 hundredths. However, that would be enough for Andreas Skatteboe to win the overall championship in Aquila Formula 1000 2025.
“Wow, what a super season! 11 out of 21 wins and 18 podiums is much more than I thought. And to also be able to secure my first championship this year is fantastic – a dream come true. The weekend itself was nothing to write home about as I drove the first race cautiously to secure the title. In Race 2 there wasn’t much driving due to the safety car. But the last race was a lot of fun with a great fight with Linus all the way to the finish,” says Andreas.
In Saturday’s second race, which ended behind the safety car, rookie Gustav Berglund stepped forward and took the victory ahead of Linus Stjernelund and third-placed Albin Gustafsson. Gustafsson who was on the podium in all races in Falkenberg.
In the Rookie Championship, Albin Gustafsson came second with Gustav Berglund in third behind Linus Stjernelund.
Oscar Mellstig had a tougher final weekend, and had to work his way up from 18th place in Race 1. However, it would be enough to secure second place in the Junior-RM, as well as third place in the overall standings for Mellstig.
Léonel Skaar challenged for the podium again, and with three straight fourth places he finished as the bronze medalist in the Junior-RM and fourth in the overall championship.
Christian Lovén also had a strong end to the season and took third place in the first race.
In the Senior Championship, Kalle Svensson finished as silver medalist ahead of Johan Varland.
