There was a change of power at the top of Aquila Formula 1000, the Nordics’ leading entry-level series in formula car racing, when the series visited Sturup Raceway outside Malmö.

Elias Adestam took his first victory in Aquila F1000, when the series visited Gelleråsen two weeks ago. Nothing could stop Adestam during the weekend’s races, who won all three heats and stepped up to the lead of the Senior Championship.

Elias Adestam

– It feels satisfying to continue the good feeling I have right now with a hat-trick at Sturup. The first in my career, and a very good sign for the rest of the season. Now, for the first time, we have a target on our back as new championship leaders. I will do everything I can to continue on this path at MittSverigebanan in a few weeks. The future looks bright, says Elias Adestam.

Kevin Suenson

Kevin Suenson, who has been leading the championship since the premiere, took three podiums at Sturup. However, it was not enough for the Dane, who now have five points up to the lead. Linus Granfors, who temporary visited the series, also made a strong effort at Sturup, and took two second places.

Dante Johansson had another good weekend in the Junior Championship. The Katrineholm driver took a podium place in race one as third, and was the best junior in the final race. Johansson thereby extends the lead in the table, and leads by 15 points over Richard Olsson.

Dante Johansson

– It was a fun weekend with a lot of racing, and a very fun track. I am satisfied with the result. I drove in the rain for the first time, which was fun and I learned a lot about the car, says Dante Johansson.

Andreas Skatteboe had his best weekend of the season, and became the weekends best junior driver! Skatteboe qualified in pole position for race one, two tenths ahead of Granfors. Andreas took fourth place in race two as best junior, and is now third in the Junior Championship.

Andreas Skatteboe

– One of the better weekends in a long time. The fact that the rain came made it better for me since I know I’m fast in the rain. I knew I had the chance to take another rainy pole position, which I succeeded in doing, says Andreas.

In the race I didn’t have quite the speed I had hoped for. But overall, it was a really fun weekend. Had hoped for more rain, but you don’t always get what you want.

Now Aquila Formula 1000 takes a summer break until July 21-23, when the series runs the year’s only double header at MittSverigebanan outside Sundsvall.

– Very impressive driving by Elias Adestam this weekend! His Team, led by father Rickard, seems to have given him a perfect car in all three heats, and he managed it in the best possible way, says Michael Karpers, promotor for Aquila Formula 1000, and continues:

Linus Granfors

– It’s really fun that Andreas Skatteboe finally found his speed again. Nice qualifying (P1) and good pace in all three races. It was also great fun to have Formula Nordic-Linus Granfors visiting again. If you then look a little further, outside the absolute top, several of the junior drivers deliver very good times over a lap, but still don’t quite make it over an entire race distance. Examples of this are Viktor Karlsson and Rodrigo Seabra who both had second fastest laps in heats 2 and 3. Nice!
