GellerÄsen Arena
Situated right outside Karlskoga – the heart of the Swedish defense industry and home of Nobel’s dynamite – GellerĂ„sen is one of the truly classic Swedish race tracks.
Aquila Formula 1000 visits the track several times each year – for pre-season testing during the Spring, a race weekend in the Summer and tryouts for new recruits in the Autumn.
This season the venue will host Preseason Collective Test 2 as well as Round 3 of the Championship.
Youâve got so much variation here â a spacious first corner after the start straight, a fast flowing ess that rewards smooth rhythm, a tight technical hairpin that demands precision braking and a wide high-speed bend that pushes grip to the limit.
GellerĂ„sen lacks substantial elevation changes but instead the subtle undulations with bankings and dips provide intriguing weight transfer that the seasoned “GĂ„sen” anorak can use to really push lap times lower.
Since acquiring GellerÄsen in 2018, touring car legend Richard Göransson has consistently improved the facilities. Each time we arrive with the Aquila family, yet another part of the venue is upgraded.
A nice little feature is the rental kart track in the southwest corner of the area. Despite having spent a full day sweating in their race gear on the big race track, the Aquila drivers can’t help themselves but sneak down to the rental karts and battle it out before the BBQ dinner in the paddock.
